Professor John Elkington, a globally renowned sustainability pioneer and often called the "Godfather of Sustainability," led the discussion. He explored the future of sustainability, the role of science and artificial intelligence, and global geopolitical, economic, and climate shifts. Elkington emphasized that the world is experiencing an unprecedented moment of transformation. He stated that current challenges can no longer be solved with gradual reforms but require a radical shift in thinking and action. He added that the current global system is "tearing apart" amidst complex crises like climate change, poverty, water scarcity, and armed conflicts. He described these challenges as "systemic and wicked," impossible to address with traditional tools.
