The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) is planning to study the introduction of special phone lines for children. These lines would come with safe internet services and digital content appropriate for their age, a move aimed at boosting child protection in the digital space. Mohamed Ibrahim, the official spokesperson for the TRA, explained in special statements that the proposal is still under study. He noted that it aims to provide a safe digital environment for children, allowing them access to suitable educational and entertainment content while limiting their exposure to any inappropriate material.
This direction reflects the growing interest of Egyptian authorities in ensuring responsible and safe internet use among younger age groups. It also aligns with the legal controls and standards stipulated by the Child Law and other legislation governing social media platforms.
