D Project: Digitizing Egypt's Heritage for a Global Academic Platform
DIGITISED, a company specializing in digital transformation solutions and information asset management, is set to launch the "D Project" platform. This platform aims to document and archive Egyptian heritage, customs, and traditions, serving as a reliable national alternative to global encyclopedias like Wikipedia. Khaled Hamida, the company's Founder and CEO, explained that the project focuses on digitizing deeply rooted historical customs and traditions. It will present them in an accurate, systematic, and interactive digital format. This approach aims to address information gaps found in some open platforms and combat fake or unverified information. A key feature of the project is its reliance on original sources, rare documents, and authenticated testimonies. This makes it a dependable reference for researchers and official bodies. It also documents the historical roots of Egyptian customs, handicrafts, and community rituals, with a special focus on specialized anthropological archiving. This goes beyond superficial storytelling and ensures the protection of heritage from external attempts at theft or distortion. The platform leverages artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to link data and correct historical timelines. All content is overseen by specialists, giving it the character of a digital academic encyclopedia. This is intended to make it the primary reference in search engines when looking up anything related to Egyptian affairs. Hamida emphasized that the company treats data as "cultural assets," secured and preserved according to the highest privacy standards. They use advanced scanning devices and editing software to ensure no details are lost, along with cloud and physical storage solutions to guarantee the archive's sustainability for many decades. It's worth noting that DIGITISED was founded in 2019 in the UAE. The company aims to provide digital content and media production that serves the Middle Eastern markets. A particular focus is on developing digital platforms that preserve cultural heritage and protect it from distortion, reflecting a clear vision to build a highly reliable national digital encyclopedia.
