MNT-Hala, a company specializing in FinTech and non-banking financial services, has signed a strategic partnership with global company Visa. This move aims to expand the issuance of prepaid cards and strengthen the digital payment system in the Egyptian market, reflecting the growing role of digital financial solutions in reshaping payment and consumption patterns.

The company stated in a press release that it issued over one million cards in 2025 and processed transactions exceeding EGP 40 billion through more than 10 million operations. It aims to reach 2.5 million cards by the end of 2026, supported by Visa's global network infrastructure and the value-added services it provides.

MNT-Hala clarified that the partnership seeks to expand the distribution of the “Hala” card nationwide and increase daily digital payment usage rates. Additionally, it will pave the way for launching the card in new markets outside Egypt, as part of regional expansion plans based on technology and data.

The “Hala” card is a prepaid card that allows customers to get an instant credit limit using only their national ID. This is done after they are evaluated through a credit model that relies on artificial intelligence technologies, a model that reflects a shift from traditional credit assessment methods to faster and more efficient digital solutions.

The card is linked to the “Hala” application, which offers a comprehensive suite of digital services. These include bill payments, e-commerce, installment plans, loyalty programs, and cashback management, in addition to financing services backed by investments. This boosts usage rates and transforms the card into an everyday financial tool, not just a payment method.

Mounir Nakhla, Founder and CEO of MNT-Hala, said that the partnership with Visa represents a pivotal step in their expansion journey. He noted that the collaboration allows them to leverage Visa's global network to enhance the card's reach and provide smoother and more secure digital financial services to millions of customers.

For her part, Malak, Visa's Vice President and General Manager for Egypt, stated that MNT-Hala has become one of the most prominent and influential players in the FinTech sector regionally. She affirmed that through this partnership, Visa will provide the necessary infrastructure and services to support the company's ambitious growth and expansion plans in the Egyptian market and other markets.

This partnership demonstrates the accelerating pace of digital transformation in Egypt's payment sector and the important role of prepaid cards in enhancing financial inclusion, reducing reliance on cash, and opening new horizons for data- and AI-driven digital financing solutions.
