Coverage articles serve four primary audiences. The reader profile is more passive than the Calendar (which is action-oriented) — coverage readers are looking for context, history, names, and trend interpretation, not for the next deadline.
The four audiences
- 1. Curious founders / operators
- Couldn’t attend the event in person. Want a high-fidelity recap — who pitched, what got money, what was the room reaction. Read for FOMO mitigation + competitive context.
- 2. Investors scanning a deal flow event
- Read pitch-result coverage to see what pitched + what won. Use coverage as a triage layer — they don’t need to attend every demo day, they read coverage from the day after.
- 3. Journalists + analysts looking up history
- Need to cite "who won the 2024 RiseUp pitch competition" or "what trends emerged from the GCC accelerator demo days this quarter". Coverage articles are their citable primary source.
- 4. Event organizers + sponsors
- Want their event covered. Want to be cited. Sponsor-spotlight kind serves the paid version of this need; organic recap/analysis serves the unpaid version when editorial deems the event significant.
