The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade has issued Decision No. 123 of 2026, which extends the final anti-dumping duties on ferrosilicon imports from the People's Republic of China, India, and the Russian Federation. This decision continues the application of the Minister of Trade and Industry's Decision No. 155 of 2021, while the final review procedures for duties on dumped imports of the product under investigation are completed.
The decision, issued on March 31, 2026, states that the extension of these duties will be for an additional year. This ensures there are no regulatory gaps during the review period. The decision is based on relevant laws, primarily Law No. 161 of 1998, which protects the national economy from harmful practices in international trade, as well as presidential decrees related to Egypt's membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The decision also relied on the recommendations of the Advisory Committee and a memo from the Head of the Commercial Remedies Sector. These recommendations advised continuing the current duties to protect local industries from the impact of dumped imports, while maintaining local market balance and upholding Egypt's international commitments.
This extension is part of the state's policy to review and update trade protection tools and to monitor the impact of foreign imports on local industries, ultimately enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian market.
