Talabat Mart Hits All-Time High in UAE as Ramadan Drives E-commerce Boom
Talabat, a top online ordering and delivery platform in the MENA region, just announced some exciting news! Its grocery and retail service, Talabat Mart, hit an all-time high in the UAE on the very first day of Ramadan, showing record performance for the sector.
Talabat, the leading online ordering and delivery platform across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, announced today, Wednesday, that its grocery and retail sector achieved a record performance. Specifically, Talabat Mart in the UAE saw its highest performance ever on the first day of Ramadan.
Compared to the previous Tuesday, Talabat Mart recorded a 21% week-on-week increase in total orders, along with a 3% growth in the average basket value. Ready-to-cook meal components, traditional dates and sweets, as well as beverages and juices, all saw increased demand right as the holy month began.
Five products topped the list of best-sellers during the first six days of Ramadan: Chiquita bananas, Mai Dubai drinking water, 'Khaliji product' cucumbers, UAE tomatoes, and Al Ain mineral water. Several other essential products also showed high weekly growth rates, proving a faster pace of purchasing and increased demand for key goods throughout the month.
Alex de Zelicourt, General Manager of Talabat Mart, shared, 'Ramadan completely changes daily routines, and we see this directly in customer behavior. What we're witnessing isn't just a seasonal increase in demand; it reflects a growing reliance on quick commerce solutions. Families are prioritizing ease, speed, and flexibility, especially during peak preparation hours.'
This data highlights the growing role of quick commerce during peak demand seasons. As families strive to balance Iftar preparations, family gatherings, and work schedules, speed and easy access to products become crucial factors in their purchasing decisions.
With Ramadan just starting, Talabat Mart expects demand levels in the grocery and retail sectors to remain high in the coming weeks, which is traditionally the period with the highest consumption of grocery products during the season.
