During his participation in the ninth edition of The Marketers League conference, Basil Rahmy, CEO of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA), stressed that media and marketing are among the most influential tools for shaping new community awareness about the importance of entrepreneurship. He added that they also boost the state's efforts towards financial inclusion and digital transformation.
Supporting Small and Medium Enterprises
Rahmy explained that this focus aligns with MSMEDA's commitment to actively participate in initiatives and events that support the SME sector. This participation allows for in-depth discussions on developing strategies to enhance the business environment and support financial inclusion and digital transformation efforts. It also helps unify visions among various stakeholders, including government, private sector, financial and banking institutions, and civil society organizations, fostering integration within the economic development system.
Rahmy participated in the conference, held under the theme "The Board Edition" at the Grand Egyptian Museum. The event brought together chairpersons from various economic sectors to discuss current developments and their impact on local and regional markets.
Economic Activities
MSMEDA sponsors the current edition of the conference as part of its efforts to strengthen cooperation with the private sector. This sponsorship supports initiatives and conferences aimed at developing markets and assisting decision-makers in formulating more efficient strategies to support the SME sector across various economic activities.
Rahmy noted that MSMEDA's participation in the conference and its sponsorship of the marketers' promotional gathering aim to enhance joint work mechanisms among different entities. It also seeks to connect SMEs with markets and the marketing system, while emphasizing the importance of leveraging this sector's capabilities to offer high-quality local products at competitive prices compared to imported goods, thereby boosting local market competitiveness.
He added that the conference serves as an important platform to strengthen the role of marketers in supporting MSMEDA's developmental mission. This mission aims to promote a culture of self-employment among youth, encouraging them to establish diverse projects that create more job opportunities. Furthermore, it supports innovative projects and provides their technological needs through modern products and services.
For his part, Eng. Samer Farrag, CEO of Sun & Sam and President of the conference, stated that the current edition of The Marketers League reflects a significant evolution in the role of marketing. He noted that marketing has transitioned from an executive function to a pivotal element in decision-making within organizations.
He clarified that, for the first time, the conference aims to broaden the dialogue to include board members and CEOs, alongside marketing leaders. This approach strengthens the link between marketing strategies and institutional growth agendas.
Farrag added that collaborating with MSMEDA brings an important developmental dimension to the conference. It provides a platform for transferring the experiences of business leaders and large corporations to SME owners, helping them evolve and sustain their businesses according to the latest standards in local and global markets.
