In line with Egypt's push for digital transformation and expanding cashless payments, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is moving forward with its plans to modernize operations within the sector. This involves launching the Corporate Payment System (CPS) and enhancing the "Rehla" platform, marking significant changes in how tourism and archaeological services are managed across Egypt. Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, held a comprehensive meeting to review the latest progress on the CPS system. This system aims to automate payment and collection processes for group tour tickets for licensed tourism companies. The meeting also covered the second phase of the "Rehla" platform, which is designed to organize school trips. This move is part of the state's broader digital transformation strategy. The goal is to boost operational efficiency at archaeological sites and museums, improve service quality, and ultimately enhance Egypt's competitiveness as a tourist destination, aligning with international standards for sector management. The CPS system represents a significant leap forward in electronic ticket booking. It allows tourism companies to complete purchases and payments electronically through bank transfers or credit/debit cards, using a secure, 24/7 system. This platform is expected to reduce reliance on cash, simplify procedures, and improve transparency and governance. The system also aims to cut down on crowding at ticket counters at archaeological sites. This will directly improve the visitor experience for tourists and make it easier to move around museums and historical locations. The Minister emphasized that the Ministry is fully committed to implementing a comprehensive digital transformation vision. He stressed the importance of completing technical adjustments and conducting final tests before the official launch of the system, ensuring higher efficiency in tourism services and faster performance. In the same vein, Ministry officials explained that the new system was designed to meet the needs of tourism companies and overcome challenges posed by traditional methods. It features a simplified user interface, fewer booking steps, and enhanced security standards for financial transactions. The meeting also discussed developments in the second phase of the "Rehla" platform. This phase aims to expand services to include Al-Azhar schools nationwide, building on the first phase which organized trips for public school students to visit archaeological sites and museums. Since its launch, the platform has achieved remarkable success, helping organize thousands of school trips for hundreds of thousands of students. This has helped reduce crowding at archaeological sites, simplified booking procedures, and fostered cultural and archaeological awareness among young people through an organized and secure digital system. This development reflects a clear direction towards integrating technology into tourism sector management. It ensures better governance of resources and improved service quality, while strengthening integration among all key players within the system. Concluding the meeting, emphasis was placed on the ongoing need for coordination among relevant parties to ensure the successful implementation and achievement of digital transformation goals in the tourism sector, thereby supporting Egypt's position as a leading tourist destination.
