Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, recently met with officials from his Ministry and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA). Their discussion focused on finding ways to boost support for entrepreneurship and expand opportunities for funding and job creation. The Minister emphasized that entrepreneurship is a key engine for economic growth and attracting investments. He stressed the importance of coordinating with various entities to provide funding programs and non-financial services that help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) grow. Golden Opportunities for Youth The CEO of MSMEDA explained that this collaboration will specifically focus on supporting industrial and productive projects. It aims to empower young people to take advantage of available investment opportunities. They'll also be activating incentives outlined in Law No. 152 of 2020 for project development, which will help deepen local manufacturing and increase production. This whole effort is designed to build a strong and sustainable economic foundation for Egypt. FRANEX 2026 Opens New Horizons The meeting also reviewed preparations for hosting the Egyptian-Saudi International Franchise Exhibition (FRANEX 2026), which is scheduled for April. This event aims to strengthen partnerships between Egyptian, Saudi, and other Gulf entrepreneurs, opening up exciting new avenues for expansion and investment across the region. Innovative Digital Platform to Support Startups During the meeting, they also discussed the latest developments for MSMEDA's new digital platform. This platform will bring together all supporting entities for the sector, including funding providers, technical services, and training programs. It's all part of building a comprehensive system to support entrepreneurs and startups, making it easier for them to access the resources and expertise they need to grow and thrive.
