Egypt's Health Ministry and Orange Partner to Fast-Track Digital Healthcare

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Egypt's Minister of Health and Population, recently met with Hisham Mahran, CEO and Managing Director of Orange Egypt. They got together to chat about ways they could work together, all to support the government's big push to create a fully integrated digital health system. This effort is perfectly aligned with Egypt's National Digital Health Strategy. Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that their meeting focused on how the Ministry and Orange Egypt could team up on the digital transformation of the healthcare system. The goal is to really boost and speed up the National Digital Health Strategy, ultimately making healthcare services better for everyone. During the meeting, the Minister of Health and Population emphasized how important it is to build up technical expertise within the health system and make sure our digital infrastructure is sustainable for the long run. He also shared that Orange Egypt presented a proposed plan for this collaboration, which would really help support the country's overall digital transformation goals. They also explored how they could work together to develop and digitally transform the current health insurance system. This is especially important given the huge database of patient information it holds. Digitizing this system would greatly improve how health data is managed and make it easier to implement the comprehensive health insurance system in the future. From the Ministry of Health and Population, attendees included Dr. Mohamed El-Tayeb, Deputy Minister; Major General Amr Ayed, Assistant Minister for Information Systems and Digital Transformation; and Dr. Rasha El-Sharkawy, Head of the Central Department for Strategic Management. Representing Orange Egypt were Eng. Mohamed Shebl, Executive Vice President for the Business Sector; Eng. Rania Ghareeb, Executive Vice President for Regulatory Affairs; Eng. Mohamed Abdel Aal, Head of the Digital Health Sector; and Eng. Hossam Afifi, Business Development and Strategic Partnerships Manager for the Digital Health Sector.
